I know... I know... It's been ages since my last post. There's a reason for that.
I'll tell you all about it in another post.
This post is reserved for a little discovery I made three days ago.
And I'm going to share it with you guys.
Are you ready?
Okay, here goes.
Contrary to what most of us have been brought up to believe, Mount Kinabalu.... is not the tallest mountain in Southeast Asia.
In case you didn't get that, I'm gonna say it one more time.
Mount Kinabalu is not Southeast Asia's tallest mountain.
Takes a while for it to sink in, doesn't it?
Well, I felt the same way when a colleague of mine who is from India popped my bubble the other day.
And get this, Mt Kinabalu is not even second or third tallest in Southeast Asia.
If you go to Tourism Malaysia's website or Sutera Sanctuary's website, they'll tell you otherwise though.
On Tourism Malaysia's site, put your mouse on the Sabah map and see the description.
As for Sutera Sanctuary's, look out for the reference in the second paragraph.
Now go Google Mount Kinabalu and see what you get.
It's a conspiracy I tell you.
I wonder what else the Government is hiding from us.

Maybe they just forgot to update didn't think it matters. After all this result is only known after doing a re-survey using satelite.
btw... why suddenly part 2?
part 1 mana oooo?
Ada tu Part 1 geng...kau cari la...
And your point about the satellite re-survey I think is a little inaccurate. The height of Kinabalu had always hovered around 4,000m. The mountains in Indonesia are well over 5,000m. Quite a big difference to overlook in my opinion.
Booss, this argument lama sudah bah but I suppose people like to swim in the world's longest river. There's a notion which states that the tallest peak in SEA is actually in Irian Jaya (National Geog, 13mil yrs ago punya issue sia pun lupa dis) BUT people argue that Irian Jaya is not exactly within the SEA, although part of Indon, so therefore shouldn't be considered. Whatever it is, I hv yet to scale it. Kinabalu tht is :P
Ya... but what about the one in Myanmar?
